Relations have never been so strong between Algeria and Ukraine, at least in the field of sport. Sergei Bubka, president of the Ukrainian Olympic Committee, made a three-day visit to Algiers last week. A visit which followed the signing, at the beginning of November, of a cooperation agreement between the two countries. The former pole vault world record holder explained to the local press that he was going to do everything possible to organize an international athletics meeting in the Algerian capital. He also announced that a delegation of Algerian athletes would travel to kyiv next December, at his invitation, to participate in a training course and competitions.
