A year without a symposium

WADA

WADA

White year for the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). The Montreal-based body has made the decision to cancel its annual symposium for 2021. It was initially scheduled last March, at the SwissTech Convention Center in Lausanne, then postponed to October 19 and 20, 2021. It was to be held in mode hybrid, virtual and face-to-face. But it was finally removed from the calendar. WADA justifies its decision by the desire to “ focus on the organization of the 2022 edition of the symposium, which will be held at the same location in Lausanne on March 23 and 24, 2022. » Olivier Niggli, the director general of the AMA, explains: “ Taking into account the evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic around the world, we believe that restrictions will be significantly less in early 2022. Hold an edition of the symposium in October 2021 and another just a few months later n wouldn't have made much sense. » The WADA symposium, the main event of the annual anti-doping calendar, brings together the vast majority of stakeholders in the fight against doping, including representatives of international federations and governments, athletes, media, researchers and service providers.
