The list is still getting smaller. Just over 100 days before the opening of the Paris 2024 Games (D – 109), Russia has crossed out a new line from its delegation of neutral athletes. Its climbing federation has announced that it will not send any athletes to the two stages of the IOC Olympic Qualifier Series, scheduled for May in Shanghai (16 to 19), then the following month in Budapest (June 20 to 23). A decision which destroys the chances of Russian climbers to qualify for the Paris 2024 Games. Furthermore, swimmer Evgeniia Chikunova (photo above), holder of the world record in the 200m breaststroke, announced to the channel Russian Match TV that she would not go to the Paris 2024 Games. Will I go to the Olympics? No, decided the young woman. And I won't get neutrality status. I will of course keep an eye on this. But I don't consider myself a neutral athlete. »
