A wave of checks

Football

Is FIFA finally taking the issue of doping seriously? No less than 174 players were subjected to unannounced anti-doping controls (blood and urine samples) from November 1 to December 10 in preparation for the 2013 Club World Cup in Marrakech. FIFA had already implemented tests during the last two editions of the Club World Cup, in Japan in 2011 and 2012, then systematized the biological passport during the Confederations Cup in June 2013 in Brazil. No positive results have been reported. FIFA announces that it will “continue the development of this new strategy with a view to the World Cup”.
