A visit to the French Alps still to be defined

Winter games

The month of April promises to be busy for the Commission to host the IOC Winter Games. She must travel to the French Alps and Salt Lake City, the two projects selected for the privileged dialogue phase with a view to the Games in 2030 and 2034. For the United States, the trip was already in the pipeline and its dates known: the delegation of experts and IOC members, led by the Austrian Karl Stoss, will visit the capital of Utah and the proposed sites between April 9 and 13. For the French Alps, the vagueness remains. Mark Adams, the IOC spokesperson, explained on Wednesday March 20 at a press conference, at the end of the executive board meeting in Lausanne, that “ dates and details are currently being discussed by both teams. » One thing is certain: French people and Americans will have to submit a new version of their application file, completed with guarantees from the authorities, no later than March 29. The future host commission will then write its evaluation report. It will be presented to the executive commission at its meeting on June 12. Barring a catastrophe, the two projects will be proposed for validation by vote at the session meeting at the end of July in Paris, on the sidelines of the Olympic Games.
