A new program for Tokyo 2025

Athletics

It's done. A little over a year before the event, the World Athletics Council, meeting on Wednesday July 31 in Paris, approved the calendar and the qualification system for the 2025 world championships in Tokyo. They will be held from September 13 to 21. All road events will take place in the morning, with the finals of the other disciplines all being scheduled for the evening. The program includes morning sessions during both weekends, but also on Monday September 15, a public holiday in Japan. The 2025 Worlds will begin with the 35 km walk, for men and women. The first evening at the Olympic Stadium will end with the mixed 4x400m final. The men's and women's 100m finals will take place on the same day. Finally, the last day will offer nine finals, including the men's 4x100m, preferred for the finale to the traditional 4x400m.
