A twelfth accused sentenced by the courts

Tokyo 2020

The list is still growing in Japan in the corruption scandal linked to the Tokyo 2020 Games. A twelfth accused was convicted on Tuesday March 12 since the trials opened last April. Yoshikazu Taniguchi, a former executive and consultant at Japanese advertising agency Daiko, was found guilty by a Tokyo district court of paying bribes worth 6 million yen (about 320.000 dollars at the current rate), to Haruyuki Takahashi, a Tokyo 2020 board member. He was given a two-year suspended prison sentence. In total, no less than 15 people have been accused of corruption since the investigation opened. Twelve of them have already been tried and sentenced.
