A hat-trick for NBCUniversal

IOC

The IOC's awards series continues. After honouring its two coaches of the year last month, the body has now handed out its 2024 Olympic Golden Rings, presented to the world's best broadcasters. They celebrate "Outstanding Achievements of Media Rights Holders" at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The IOC has gone big, rewarding 10 rights holders in 12 categories. Unsurprisingly, the Americans in the group NBCUniversal took home some of the best shares, winning in the categories of Best Digital Offering (Web and App), Best Production and Best Social Media Campaign. Not bad. At home, France Télévisions did more than hold its own, picking up the Best Athlete Portrait award for a feature on swimmer Léon Marchand, plus a Special Jury Prize for its role in promoting the Paris 2024 Games in France. Other winners on the list include some of the industry's heavyweights, including BBC, CBC/Radio-Canada, CMG Group, Globe, Livemode, Nine Australia, Sky NZ and Warner Bros Discovery. A special jury prize was also awarded to the Olympic ceremonies broadcast team. The IOC reminds us that its audiovisual subsidiary (OBS), the host broadcaster of the Games, has produced a record 11.000 hours of content for the Paris 2024 Games.
