The initiative is unprecedented. At the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, OIS (Olympic Information Services) has set up a sports photography training programme for eight photography students. It is led by British photographer Bob Martin and involves five young French people, two Americans from Los Angeles and a Ugandan. Six members of the group work with the programme’s mentors, all renowned professional photographers, at the competition venues. Two others are based at the OIS office in the main press centre, where they learn how to edit and distribute the images. The roles are rotated every two days so that each young photographer can experience all aspects of the process. This training programme, previously intended for young print reporters, will be extended by OIS to the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games.
