The United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) has unveiled its 2024 impact reportThe numbers are enough to make your head spin, beyond the excellent sporting record of American athletes at the Olympic and Paralympic Games. With $497 million in revenue and $385 million in expenses, the body ended the year with an additional 112 million in its coffers. The surplus from the Olympic and Paralympic Games year allows the USOPC to run a deficit in non-Games years and provide a consistent level of support for athletes throughout each year of the four-year budget cycle ", specifies the USOPC.
The authority has invested $234 million in sports excellence programs last year, more than 60% of its expenses. The United States Olympic and Paralympic Foundation (USOPF) also raised $85 million in donations, 25 million more than the previous record for one year. Some 51.000 people have given their support. The impact of donors was felt at Paris 2024 and beyond, whether in the funding for nine mental health workers on site or from tuition assistance for 462 athletes, underlines the report. These contributions ensure support for athletes not only during competitions, but also throughout the year. »
