
The International World Games Association (IWGA) has unveiled its new strategic roadmap for the period 2025-2034. The culmination of a extensive consultation process year-long strategy involving a wide range of stakeholders: IWGA member federations, National Olympic Committees, athletes, host cities, partners, media, IWGA management and staff, etc. This strategy aims to " position the World Games as a global force for inclusive, sustainable, athlete-centered sporting excellence ».
Seven pillars structure this plan: the World Games; athlete experience and development; member and stakeholder engagement; commercial growth; event innovation and expansion; sustainability; and organizational excellence. In total, 33 objectives are mentioned, among which increase the recognition of the World Games among the general public, diversify the IWGA's revenue streams by developing new competitions, establish a long-term dissemination strategy, introduce emerging sports to attract a younger audience, invest in digital innovation to improve the spectator experience, or even provide a mental health support for athletes.

Jan Fransoo, member of the IWGA executive committee, believes that " This strategy reflects our shared ambition to take the World Games to new heights ".
