The year is not over, but World Athletics is already looking back. The body has done its sums: the 2024 edition of the Continental Tour, the second circuit of one-day meetings (behind the Diamond League), was historic. In total, more than 20.000 athletes from nearly 200 countries participated in one or the other, and often several, of the 271 meetings organized during the season. The Continental Tour is divided into four levels – Gold, Silver, Bronze and Challenger. At the top of the pyramid, the Gold level counted 11 meetings. In 2024, the circuit offered competitions on five continents. Germany was the country with the most meetings (29), ahead of the United States (18 including two Gold) and France (18). A world record (74,35 m in the discus throw by Lithuanian Mykolas Alekna), 12 continental records and 205 national records were set this season on the Continental Tour. Launched in 2021, the circuit has continued to progress since its first edition. In 2023, it had 230 meetings and brought together 15.552 athletes.
