A profit of 55 million dollars

PYEONGCHANG 2018

Paradox. The race for the 2026 Winter Games is now down to just two bids, but the event appears to be going strong. The organizers of the PyeongChang 2018 Games were invited to present their final report on Wednesday, November 28, to the ANOC General Assembly. It reveals an operating surplus of $55 million. According to a survey carried out in the country, 84% of South Koreans believe that the PyeongChang Winter Games were a success. The event brought together 1.035 paying spectators. Three world records and 968 Olympic records were broken. Finally, the Asian organizers explained that the two athletes' villages, located in PyeongChang and Gangneung, were now inhabited by their residents. In PyeongChang, the first families took possession of their apartments last August. In Gangneung, the village has been occupied since October. In this last village, the population's requests for housing were 25 times higher than the accommodation capacity.
