The troubles continue for Gian Franco Kasper. The president of the International Ski Federation (FIS) made a splash last week by explaining in a Swiss daily that he preferred to negotiate with dictatorships, and by suggesting that global warming was a pure invention. His comments were not very appreciated, particularly at the IOC. They have now made him the subject of a petition demanding his resignation. It was launched by an environmental NGO, Protect Our Winters (POW). In an open letter to the FIS, she wrote: “ We are writing this letter following recent statements by your president, Gianfranco Kasper, in an interview for the Tages Anzeiger. Mr. Kasper's statements show that he unequivocally denies the most obvious scientific conclusions on climate change and their human origin.. » The letter has been posted online since February 9.
