Charges mount in Tokyo 2020 Games corruption scandal. Kyodo News reports, citing sources close to the investigation, that a new charge will be filed very soon by prosecutors against Haruyuki Takahashi, 78, the former boss of Dentsu and member of the board of directors of Tokyo 2020 (photo below above). This time, it concerns the alleged payment of bribes, amounting to 8 million yen ($54.000 at current prices), by another sponsor of the last Summer Games, the plush toy brand Sun Arrow . The Japanese leader has already been accused three times for similar acts since the investigation opened. In the last of these accusations, he is suspected of having pressured the organizing committee in favor of Sun Arrow, so that the Japanese company would be chosen as sponsor and obtain the marketing rights for the plush mascots. The money would have passed through a consulting company run by a relative of Haruyuki Takahashi, before arriving in his bank account. At the same time, investigators are interested in the relations between the former member of the board of directors of Tokyo 2020 and an advertising agency, Daiko Advertising, which he allegedly pushed forward to serve as an intermediary in certain contracts partnership of the Tokyo Games.
