A health bubble in Melbourne

The next professional tennis season promises to be dominated by the health crisis. The Australian Tennis Federation (Tennis Australia) has already announced that all tournaments scheduled for January 2021 will take place at the same location, in Melbourne. The events in Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and Hobart will all be moved to a health bubble set up for the occasion in the capital of the state of Victoria, where the Australian Open is held every year. The Australian tour schedule is still under discussion, between Tennis Australia, the ATP and the WTA. But it is certain that foreign players, who could arrive in Australia from mid-December, will be subject to a 14-day quarantine period. On the other hand, the question of the presence of the public has not yet been resolved. The state of Victoria currently allows a number of spectators in sports venues equal to only a quarter of the capacity of the stands.
