And four. Two weeks before the deadline, a fourth candidate has decided to join the race for the presidency of AIBA. Boris Van der Vorst (photo above), the president of the Dutch Boxing Federation, announced his candidacy in a letter sent to the national federations members of the world body. He joins a trio formed by Azeri Suleyman Mikayilov, Dominican Bienvenido Solano, and Anas Al Otaiba, originally from the United Arab Emirates. The list of candidates could grow further by November 2, the deadline set by AIBA to submit an application. The Russian Umar Kremlev, in particular, makes no secret of his desire to also enter the race. As for the current interim president, Moroccan Mohamed Moustahsane, he has not yet officially declared his intention. The election for the presidency of AIBA should normally take place during the body's next annual congress, scheduled for December 12 and 13 in virtual mode.
