Former BBC director general Greg Dyke is set to take over as president of the English Football Association (FA) next July. This appointment must still be formally submitted for approval to the Federation Council, before coming into force next July, the date on which the current president, David Bernstein, will leave his post, having reached the statutory age limit of 70 years. Greg Dyke, 65, has always been a football fan. Former director of Manchester United, he currently chairs the London club Brentford, 2nd in the 3rd Division championship. At the BBC, as earlier at ITV sport, he was in charge of negotiating television rights for sport.
