The International Ski Federation (FIS) is preparing to make history. She announced the addition to the calendar of the 2022-2023 Alpine Ski World Cup of a descent whose start will be given in Switzerland, but with a finish judged in Italy. This unique race, planned in a male and female version, will take place on the slopes of the Matterhorn, near the Swiss resort of Zermatt. Combined with a super-G, it will take the name of Zermatt-Cervinia. The details of the route, designed by former Swiss downhiller Didier Defago, have not been revealed, but the descent should be the longest on the circuit, with a course stretched over 5 kilometers, or around 2 minutes and 45 seconds of racing. . With a start given at an altitude of 3.900 meters, in Gobba di Rollin, this descent in two countries could be contested at the very start of the season, probably from November.
