A day for the planet

Table tennis

The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) celebrated World Table Tennis Day in style on Sunday April 23, this year under the sign of saving the planet. It was organized for the first time on this spring date, which coincides with the anniversary of the birth of Ivor Montagu, the founder and first president of the international body. For the occasion, national federations, organizations, clubs and ping enthusiasts from around the world offered events, tournaments, exhibitions, challenges and open days. In total, more than 400 initiatives have been identified in more than a hundred locations across the planet. At the top of the list, an exhibition bringing together young local players and some of the best table tennis players in the world in Macau, on the sidelines of the WTT Tour world circuit tournament. It was organized outside the ruins of Saint-Paul, in the presence of the president of the ITTF, the Swede Petra Sörling, the vice-president, the Chinese Liu Guoliang, and the general director of the ITTF Group, Steve Dainton (pictured above)
