A b-boy as flag bearer

Paris 2024

Surprise. The Japanese Olympic Committee (JOC) revealed the identity of the two flag bearers of the delegation at the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Games. A pair made up of a man and a woman. Classic. But, less expected, one of the two represents an additional sport, breaking. Fencer Misaki Emura and b-boy Shigeyuki Nakarai were chosen to march at the head of the athletes' parade on the Seine on Friday July 26. Misaki Emura, 25, is a two-time world champion in women's saber. She was already a flag bearer at the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. Shigeyuki Nakarai, 22, known in the world of breaking under the nickname Shigekix, is among the favorites to win the Olympic title in Paris.
