New year, new rules. The World Triathlon Executive Board has approved a set of rules that will be applied from this Thursday, January 30The instance noted the evolution of the order of athletes in mixed relays : while the race started with a man and ended with a woman, the order to follow will now be woman – man – woman – man. Other notable changes, especially for the swimming part: triathletes can now wear outfits with sleeves that go down to the elbow, regardless of the distance of the event, as well as a watch – but only in the Elite category, upon validation by the chief referee.
Furthermore, the decision ofcancel a swimming event due to water qualitywill no longer rest on a single person. This issue will now be decided collaboratively, by a group including a representative of the medical commission, the medical delegate and the medical director of the local organizing committee. All of these new features were approved after consultation of athletes, national federations, continental confederations and reports from technical delegates.
