The executive board of the International Biathlon Union (IBU), meeting in Salzburg, validated the prize money for the 2025-2026 season, increased to 1,6 million euros. The first places will be better rewarded in individual races: a World Cup victory will bring in 20.000 euros, compared to 15.000 euros in 2023-2024. The prize money for the coming year exceeds 9,3 million euros, i.e. a 56% increase compared to the last Olympic season.
The IBU also confirmed the reallocation of medals won between 2010 and 2014 by the Russian Evgeny Ustyugov, sanctioned for doping. The Austrian Christoph Sumann (small globe in the mass start 2009-2010), the Italian Lukas Hofer (silver medal in the mass start at the 2011 World Championships) and the Norwegian Tarjei Boe (bronze medal in the same race) are among the beneficiaries. While we regret that this reassignment was necessary, We are happy to see that justice has been done and finally offer these athletes the recognition they deserve " explains President Olle Dahlin.
