World Boxing adds a confederation to its list of conquests

January is a fruitful month for World Boxing. After recording eight new member federations, the body announced the creation of a Pan-American Confederation. It will bring together 17 national federations, from the United States to Brazil, via Argentina, Canada, Jamaica, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador and Guatemala. For Boris van der Vorst, president of World Boxing, "The creation of the Pan-American Boxing Confederation is further proof of World Boxing's progress and the overall desire for change”. The body intends to rely on as much support as possible to obtain IOC recognition, who dropped the IBA, and ensure the presence of boxing at the Los Angeles 2028 Games. The Confederation will aim to set up "high-level competitions" and "developing boxing through mutual collaboration" in order to strengthen athletes, coaches, referees and judges. The Confederation will hold its inaugural congress on March 15 in Panama City. The members will have the mission of approve the statutes and to elect people who will occupy an executive role.
