Six seats of the athletes commission of World Athletics will be up for grabs at the World Athletics Championships, from 13 to 21 September 2025 in Tokyo. World Athletics has presented the process and invited interested athletes to express their interest. Candidates have until April 7 to be declared eligible. Among the criteria to be met: be at least 18 years old, have participated in the 2024 Paris Games or the 2022, 2023 or 2025 World Championships, and be able to speak and understand English. The deadline for submitting applications is June 7. The list of candidates will be published on August 25, the date on which the campaign will begin. Voting will take place during the World Championships and the results will be announced on September 21, the last day of competition. In 2023, fourteen candidates were in the running. Valerie Adams, Renaud Lavillenie, Aisha Praught-Leer, Diego Garcia Carrera, Jasmine Todd and Adam Gemili were elected until 2027.
