Interest in the WNBA shows no sign of waning. The American women's basketball league has seen staggering numbers online over the past year. According to the SportOnSocial annual report from the Redtorch agency, WNBA searches jump 322% in 2024 compared to the average of the previous four years. A spectacular boom that reflects a sharp increase in interest in women's sport. Seven all-women's competitions make the top 20 of the report with, in addition to the WNBA, an explosion of searches concerning the football championships of England (145%), Germany (114%) and France (39%), the Women's Champions League (75%) and the Six Nations rugby tournament (68%). Another trend is the growing popularity of "short, fast and innovative sports like Padel (282% growth in searches) and the Ultimate Tennis Showdown (246%), which ranked second and third respectively" of the rank. The world of tennis is generally a good student since the ATP (76%), Wimbledon (36%), Roland-Garros (25%), the WTA (23%) and the Australian Open (10%) all appear in the first part of the ranking, between 11th and 35th place (out of 70 entities). On the other hand, cycling is among the losers with negative figures for the Tour of Spain (-2%), the Giro (-8%) and the Tour de France (-13%). The NBA is also in decline (-2%), like the Italian Serie A (-21%), the French Ligue 1 (-22%) and the X Games (-27%).
