Morocco, Benin, Ivory Coast... The FIVB strengthens its ties with Africa

The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) hosted three African national federations last week in Lausanne. Royal Moroccan Federation, represented by its president Abdelhamid Ouaqouaq and its secretary general Fahd Ouazzani Chahidi, was able to discuss its dynamics, in particular the excellent results from his beach volleyball teamand the development of sport in the country. Since 2017, the FRMVB has received just over 300.000 euros in aid to progress in terms of coaching, equipment and refereeing.

The president of the Beninese federation, Ali S. Yaro, and his counterpart from the Ivorian federationPascal Whadja and others also met with FIVB President Fabio Azevedo. National development prospects were at the heart of their discussions. To provide context, Ivory Coast has already received €215.000 in support since 2017, while Benin has benefited from approximately €40.000 in support through balls and a Gerflor pitch.

They also mentioned the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games, who are " a major opportunity to accelerate the development of volleyball across the continent The FIVB is working tirelessly to make volleyball more accessible and thus get closer to its goal: reach 1,6 billion fans in the world by 2032.
