The UIPM believes in its product. While the IOC is about to proceed with a a thorough examination of the disciplines in the Olympic programThe governing body for modern pentathlon believes it is well-positioned to retain its place at the Olympic Games. The Secretary General of the UIPM, Shiny Fang, spoke at length on this subject.
« The facts are clear: when assessed fairly – event by event, discipline by discipline – our Olympic sport performs well and has a considerable growth potentialWe welcome the IOC's "event by event" approach, as it reflects reality: that ofa sport that brings exceptional value to every event " she assures us on the UIPM website.
« Over the last three Olympic cycles, the pentathlon has experienced consistent and measurable growth, both in terms of digital engagement and spectator interest and media coverage. This is not the profile of a sport that is stagnating. The pentathlon is attracting increasing global attention and is showing a real dynamic. "The sport has been further strengthened by the major changes it has undergone in recent months, with the replacement of horse riding by show jumping at the forefront, which has already resulted in increased interest from young people.
« The pentathlon is showing excellent results across several indicators for which event-specific data is available: 10 out of 14 indicators are near, at, or above the median. Our athletes are generating a level of engagement, enthusiasm, and connection with the public that has never been seen before. nothing to envy from those of any other sport on the programwhen they are classified in a fair and proportional manner "Shiny Fang points out.
