Ahmet Gülüm is the new strongman of the Turkish National Olympic Committee (TMOK). He was elected president of the organization in Istanbul with 185 votes, against 150 for the outgoing president Ugur Erdener.A former volleyball player, Gülüm represented Turkey 158 times at international level. He later led the Turkish Volleyball Federation and founded, among other things, a sports marketing agency. "Since announcing my candidacy, I have met an exceptional team who understand the importance of sport and being on the field. Together, we successfully completed the selection process with the experience, knowledge, values, and social skills that sport gives us, he wrote on LinkedIn. Our first objective now is to spread the synergy we have created as a team to all members of our committee and to place our values at the heart of common objectives." IOC member since 2008 and President of the International Archery Federation, Ugur Erdener has been leading TMOK since 2011.
