Triathlon confirmed for this Monday

Paris 2024

The saga over the water quality of the Seine seems to be finally over. But its latest episodes have still had their share of unpleasant surprises. Initially postponed to Sunday, September 1, when all 11 races should have been held between early morning and lunchtime, the Paralympic triathlon events were ultimately unable to take place. The cause was a deterioration in the water quality of the Seine, caused by heavy rain recorded for two days in the French capital. At the end of a meeting held during the night from Saturday to Sunday, at 3:30 a.m., the OCOG therefore decided to postpone the competitions to Monday, September 2, in agreement with the authorities and World Triathlon. On the same day, but at 22 p.m., a meeting on water quality organized in the presence of representatives from World Triathlon, Paris 00 and the French authorities, confirmed that the para triathlon competitions could indeed take place as planned on Monday, September 2024. The results analyzed on Sunday, combined with the online and real-time monitoring system of the microbiological quality of the water, indicate that the water quality continues to improve and will comply with the thresholds set by World Triathlon on race day.
