Tour de France wants to take inspiration from Paris 2024

Rue Lepic is still shaking. The passage of the Olympic road race peloton on the cobblestones of Montmartre left its mark during the Paris 2024 Games. All the boxes were ticked: sporting interest, popular jubilation and the breathtaking setting. So much so that the organizers of the Tour de France would like to repeat the experience. According to Le Parisien, ASO has indeed filed a file with the Paris prefecture in view of the final stage of the Grande Boucle, the Sunday 27 July. The organizers would like the runners to pass three times “in the famous rue Lepic then around the Butte Montmartre”, before switching to the legendary finale on the Champs-Élysées. A grand way to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the first arrival on "the most beautiful avenue in the world", but also the Tour comeback in the capital, the 2024 edition having exceptionally ended in Nice. The prospect has something to enchant all cycling lovers, but nothing is certain. Local authorities will have to take into account the strong constraints that would result from such a route in terms of security, logistics and road traffic. The prefecture has expressed some doubts about such a route, but there is still time to move the matter forward...
