Three. No fewer than three terrorist plots were foiled in France during the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. The information is credible, since it was revealed by Olivier Christen, the head of the national anti-terrorist prosecutor's office (Pnat). He explained it on franceinfo, specifying that the first concerned “bar-type establishments, around the Geoffroy-Guichard stadium in Saint-Étienne”, where three matches of the group stage of the men's football tournament were played (United States-Guinea, Argentina-Morocco and Ukraine-Morocco), and three of the women's tournament (Canada-New Zealand, France-Canada and Zambia-Germany). The investigation conducted by the Pnat and the DGSI (General Directorate of Internal Security) led to the arrest of an 18-year-old Chechen national. The second planned attack stopped concerned "another group that had planned attacks against Israeli institutions and representatives in Paris." Finally, the last of the three was prepared by "two people from Gironde who had planned to attack during the Olympic Games." Olivier Christen did not give further details on the potential target. But the French official indicated that "All those who planned these attacks were arrested, which led to five indictments, including that of a minor." The five people remain incarcerated.
