2026 World Cup draw date set

On the road to the 2026 World Cup, FIFA has announced that the draw for the competition will take place on Friday, December 5, at John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, in Washington, D.C.. « A major step towards the tournament », says Gianni Infantino, who was alongside Donald Trump, at the White House, to make this announcement.

« It will mark a considerable step forward towards the biggest sporting event ever held, as we prepare to host many iconic FIFA events across North America in 2026. We look forward to welcoming team delegations, our partners, media from around the world and, uniquely, fans representing each of the 16 wonderful host cities, in the capital of the United States for this important moment " said the FIFA president.

In total, 42 of the 48 teams that will participate in the tournament will be known at the time of this draw., with the last six places being determined by play-off matches to be played in March 2026. In addition to Canada, Mexico and the United States, the host countries, ten teams have already qualified. : Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Ecuador, Japan, Jordan, Uzbekistan, New Zealand, the Republic of Korea and Iran.
