José Ubaldo Zavala Valladares is the new president of the Honduran Olympic Committee (COH). He was elected by the Ordinary General Assembly of Delegates. He takes the estate of Salvador Jiménez Cáceres, who died on January 18 at the age of 80, and will be assisted by Leonel Godoy as vice-president. Ubaldo Zavala, former Secretary General of the COH, was the only candidate in the running since Luis Morán withdrew 24 hours before the election, explaining: "After much reflection, I have made the difficult decision to withdraw my candidacy. There are still obstacles within certain structures that prevent us from moving forward in the direction we believe to be the right one." Ubaldo Zavala will take up his post up to 2029. It plans to boost the administrative processes of the COH, support Honduran athletes, better train national leaders and develop " from partnerships with educational institutions at all levels »On the sidelines of the vote, a tribute was paid to Salvador Jiménez Cáceres, who had been president of the COH since 2001.
