The members of the board of the International Fencing Federation were in Budapest a few days ago to exchange with the Hungarian sports authorities. The interim president of the FIE, Abdelmoneim El Husseiny, and Secretary General Gulnora Saidova were present. They were able to meet with the Hungarian Secretary of State for Sport, Adam Schmidt, and the President of the Hungarian NOC, Zsolt Gyulai. The FIE also signed several agreements with the Hungarian Fencing Federation, notably for the organization of three fencing events in Hungary.
A FIE technical office was officially inaugurated, a first step towards the establishment of an international Academy. This will make it possible to set up training programs for coaches and referees, and in areas such as sports management and event organization. The Academy is part of the pursuit of the objective of increasing the number of certified referees and coaches by 25% by 2027. Another goal of the Academy is toincrease athlete engagement, but also participation more generally.
