A delegation from the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) has just completed a trip to IndiaThe body took stock of a number of programs aimed at strengthening and developing volleyball in this key country given its demographic strength.
Un school volleyball program was launched in Chandigarh. It will reach more than 140.000 students in 108 public schools, with the support of 120 physical education teachers trained in volleyball techniques, teaching methods and Olympic values. Volleyball is a sport built on collaboration, inclusion, peace and solidarity, and through this initiative we are empowering teachers and children to embrace these values., explains FIVB president Fabio Azevedo. We hope this project will inspire thousands of other young athletes to get involved in volleyball and to join the World Volleyball Movement. »
In Mumbai, the FIVB delegation explored " long-term strategies to develop volleyball practice and infrastructure in India » with the Reliance Foundation. « The discussions focused on the mass participation initiatives and innovation in broadcasting. "In Bhubaneswar, discussions were held on the organization of an international beach volleyball event from 2026 and on " the appointment of a high-level beach volleyball coach to serve athletes across the country ».
The Kanya Kiran – Girl Sunshine project, which aims to empower girls through volleyball, was also on the agenda.
