The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) has taken a new step in sustainability by officially joining Sports for NatureThe signing took place in Palau, a country internationally recognized for its pioneering role in marine and environmental conservation. The ceremony took place in presence of Baklai Temengil, President of the Oceania National Olympic Committees (ONOC) and IOC member. FIVB President Fabio Azevedo said on this occasion: " By taking this step, we reaffirm our responsibility to lead with determination – for volleyball, for the planet and for future generations. »

Sports for Nature, born from the collaboration between the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), the IOC, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and Dona Bertarelli Philanthropy, provides a clear roadmap for sports organizations to take measures in favor of the environment. This framework is based on four principles: protect nature and avoid damage to habitats and species ; restore and regenerate nature where possible; reduce risks to nature in supply chains; educate and inspire positive actions for nature within and beyond sport.
