The host country of the Asia-Oceania Flag Football Championships was unveiled by the International Federation of American Football (IFAF) on Thursday. It is China, and more specifically the city of Ningbo – on the east coast, about a hundred kilometers south of Shanghai – which was chosen. The men’s and women’s tournaments will take place from October 23 to 27 at the Fenghua Sports Center. This event will be qualifying for the 2026 World Championships.
Flag football is growing rapidly in China: the IFAF lists 500.000 players there and plans toreach one million within two years. The country will also host another flag football competition during the Chengdu World Games in August. “ “The first IFAF flag football events in China mark another major step forward for the sport,” said IFAF President Pierre Trochet. “I know we can expect a fantastic event.” »
This competition will be the last continental championship of the year 2025 while the international flag football calendar has never been so busy: Cairo has already hosted the African Championships in June, and the American Championships (September 14-17) and European Championships (September 25-27) will follow in the fall.
