The 2028 Tour de France brought forward because of the Los Angeles Games

Cycling

The schedule is taking shape. The 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games will take place much earlier than in recent editions: since Athens 2004, all editions have been held either straddling July and August or entirely during the month of August. In two years, however, Los Angeles will host the Games from 14 to 30 July.

The dates for the Tour de France have just been announced: The race will start on June 24th in Reims. (a week earlier than usual) and will finish in Paris on July 16. The two events will therefore not overlap, but it will certainly be difficult to do both. Some riders may thus be forced to make a choice, and potentially rule out the Tour. The Olympic time trial is scheduled for July 19, and the men's online race on July 23.

Another major event in July that will be affected: WimbledonThe London Grand Slam will be played of the 3 16 2028 JulyNot all players will be able to play consecutive matches, especially given the change of surface, since the first Olympic tennis matches are scheduled for July 19.
