
Sporting Events Territories is expanding! Founded in 2012 to bring together French communities wishing to get involved in organizing major competitions, the association has welcomed a new member: the Eurometropolis of StrasbourgThe capital of Alsace is particularly involved in sport through its annual tennis tournament, which systematically precedes Roland-Garros, and Meinau stadium, home of RCSA, seventh in Ligue 1 and therefore qualified for the European Cup next season.
The Metropolis has just started major works of stadium renovation/extension which will be completed in July 2026. The €160 million excluding VAT project includes a complete restructuring of the equipment as well as an extension of the south stand. The capacity will thus be increased to 32 000 places particularly for Racing Club de Strasbourg Alsace matches. Territoires d'Événements Sportifs now has 23 member cities. In February, Rennes joined the association, now represented in ten regions of France.
