Singapore commits for five years

Table tennis

World Table Tennis (WTT), the events and commercial arm of the international table tennis federation (ITTF), is taking root in Singapore. This is hardly a surprise for an organization whose activities are partly operated from the Southeast Asian city-state. WTT has announced that it has entered into a five-year partnership agreement, between 2025 and 2029, with Sport Singapore (SportSG). It is to be based on one of the major events on the world calendar, the Singapore Smash, the first stage of the WTT Grand Smash series. For the year 2025, the tournament will take place from February 2 to 9 at the Singapore Sports Hub. The partnership between the two parties includes plans to use the Grand Smash as a laboratory for new technologies, with the deployment of artificial intelligence (AI) for real-time data analysis from the next edition. Another area of development: young people. In Singapore, next February, a WTT Youth Grand Smash will be organized for the first time in tandem with the competition reserved for seniors, on the same dates and on the same stage.
