The choice is made. The Laureus Academy has announced that its next awards evening will be held on May 6, 2021 in Seville, Spain. An almost anecdotal choice, since the event will be organized entirely in virtual mode. The traditional “Laureus Awards” will be presented for the 22nd time to the champions, hopefuls, revelations or even teams of the year 2020. Due to the health crisis, the ceremony will also be marked by the awarding of new trophies, intended to highlight personalities or associations having “ worked tirelessly to combat the coronavirus pandemic”. A new trophy will also be awarded to one or more athletes who have used their influence and notoriety in favor of social justice and humanitarian causes. The last Laureus Academy trophy ceremony took place last year in Berlin, already in virtual mode. The three previous editions took place in the principality of Monaco.
