The IOC has granted a provisional recognition at World Boxing, created in 2023 with the ambition of keep boxing on the program of the Olympic Games. The federation counts 78 members and three major business partners currently. The signals are rather encouraging in view of Los Angeles 2028. Juan Antonio Samaranch Jr, candidate for the presidency of the IOC, showed clear support for the discipline in his interview with AIPS.. "The IOC has recognized the new federation and I think it is a very important step forward. But let me tell you one thing: with or without this, under my presidency, boxing will always be on the program, he says. It is too important. It is too important for so many national committees who cannot dream of medals or even sending athletes to the Olympic Games without boxing." The outcome of the election, which will take place on March 20, could therefore weigh in the balance.
