Russians want to change their name

Judo

Changes are coming to the world of judo. According to the president of the federation, Sergei Soloveichik, the Russian judokas declared eligible will no longer compete in international competitions under the name of AIN, the acronym used in the Olympic movement to designate Neutral Individual Athletes. Instead, they will wear the name and logo of the international federation (IJF) on their kimono. They will take the name of athletes of the International Judo Federation. "In recent years we have benefited from the support of the IJF, explained Sergei Soloveichik, quoted by the agency TASS. During the Paris 2024 Games, we had a meeting where the management of the international federation accepted our proposal. The name of the IJF will therefore be affixed to the bibs of our athletes until the day when we can compete again under our own colours.."
