Russian athletes sanctioned in spades

Doping

The figure is impressive. At the latest tally, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) sanctioned 241 Russian athletes based on data from the LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) in Moscow and the samples extracted from it. The Montreal-based organization explained this to the agency TASS, specifying that these sanctions had been imposed by 18 anti-doping organizations. To this solid contingent, we must add 119 cases for which the investigation has not been completed. Still according to WADA, a number of other cases were investigated, before being closed due to lack of available evidence. As a reminder, the LIMS is based on the data and samples recovered in 2019, not without difficulty and after an interminable procedure, by the WADA intelligence and investigation service at the Moscow anti-doping laboratory.
