The IOC members have validated the destination of Punta Cana by voting at the 144th session last week in Greece. This decision will mark " the return of the Olympic movement to the Caribbean, 38 years later the 95th IOC session held in Puerto Rico in 1989", the organization emphasizes. « It is an honor for us to be able to host the IOC session in 2027 in Punta Cana – an event of considerable importance for the future of the Olympic movement and the global development of sport”, commented the President of the Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader. The event will take place in the largest convention center in the country according to Ser Miang Ng, who is pleased to be able to highlight « the universality and global reach of the Olympic movement ».
