After hosting the men's Euro 2004, Portugal is eyeing the women's version of the continental tournament. The Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) has announced its candidacy for the 2029 Women's Euro, a project justified according to its president, Fernando Gomes, by the country's desire to " take a further step to consolidate women's football in Portugal." The Portuguese will have to fight against another bid announced since the race was launched by UEFA last July: a joint project by Denmark and Sweden. The designation of the host country or countries is scheduled for December 2025. The next Women's Euro will take place from 2 to 27 July 2025 in Switzerland.
