Piotr Nurowski Prize awarded to snowboarder

The Bulgarian snowboarder Malena Zamfirova received the Piotr Nurowski Winter Prize in Malta, on the sidelines of the European Olympic Committees (EOC) seminar. Aged 16, she received 26% of the votes and beat the Ukrainian Yaroslav Lavreniuk (skeleton). Zamfirova obtained her first podium in the World Cup this year, in a parallel giant slalom in Krynica (Poland), where she took second place. In the Junior category, she also became world champion in team slalom.

Finn Sonnekalb of Germany, Flora Tabanelli of Italy, and Unai Lopez Sousa of Spain were also finalists. The five athletes who were in the running for the award received a scholarship to pursue their career.
