The International Fencing Federation (FIE) is celebrating its centenary this Friday, November 29, in Paris, the city where it was born at the beginning of the last century. Historical countries and new rich in the discipline will meet for the annual congress, in the premises of a large Parisian hotel. And it is the future of fencing that will be on the menu, with the designation of the host cities for the next world championships in 2014 and 2015. According to various sources, the Russia of President Alisher Usmanov, who has headed the International Federation since 2008 , would have entered the dance, with Kazan, to welcome the Worlds. Likewise the United States, with Portland, whose young generation is already obtaining convincing results at the highest level. The guest of honor for this centenary will be Thomas Bach, the president of the IOC, himself a former fencer, Olympic medalist in foil in 1976.
