The Monnaie de Paris affected by a social movement

Paris 2024

Worrying. 126 days before the opening of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, a strike disrupts not transport, but… the manufacturing of medals. Some of the staff at Monnaie de Paris have stopped working since Tuesday March 19, in the hope of obtaining better salary conditions. The management of the French national monetary institution, in charge of the production of Olympic and Paralympic medals, has proposed salary increases of 4,5% for employees earning less than 28.000 euros per year, then a decreasing percentage which falls to 1,5% for those earning between 42.000 and 48.000 euros. A proposal deemed insufficient by some of the staff. But according to an internal source at the Monnaie de Paris, cited by theAFP, who are " production continues on the medals » and the establishment remains in its production schedule. The strike movement would concern, according to the same source, around fifty of the 430 employees.
